We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we will occasionally email you about new diamonds and related news from the workshop. We send our newsletter using Shopify Email.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter, or by emailing us. Unsubscribing does not affect any enquiries or work in progress.
Shopify Email may record whether a newsletter was opened and which links were clicked. We use this only to understand, in general terms, how our newsletters perform.
5. Who we share your information with
We share personal information only where needed for the purposes above:
- Shopify, which hosts our website and stores enquiry form submissions, customer records and newsletter sign-ups, and sends our newsletter.
- Google (Google Workspace), which provides our business email.
- Website service providers that receive technical information when you visit our current website (see section 7).
- Professional advisers, such as accountants or legal advisers, where needed.
- Couriers, insurers or other service providers, where needed to receive, return or transport items you have asked us to work on.
- Authorities or regulators, where the law requires us to.
6. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies provided by Shopify.
- Strictly necessary cookies are needed for the website to work, for example to remember your region and currency settings and your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off.
- Optional cookies fall into three categories: personalisation, marketing and analytics. Where required, we ask for your choice through a cookie banner when you first visit. You can accept all, decline all, or choose individual categories under "Manage preferences".
Changing your choice: you can revisit your choices at any time by selecting “Cookie preferences” in the website footer, where shown. You can also clear your browser cookies to reset your saved preferences; the cookie banner will then appear again on your next visit.
You can decline optional cookies. However, Shopify may still process some technical information needed to deliver the website, keep it secure and measure its basic performance. For more information, see Shopify's privacy policy at https://www.shopify.com/legal/privacy.
The services described in section 7 are part of our current website design. They are not controlled by the cookie banner.
7. Our current website: additional services
We are preparing a new version of our website. Until it replaces the current version, the current website also uses the following services. When you visit pages that use them, your browser connects to their servers, which receive technical information such as your IP address, browser details and the page you are viewing:
- Vimeo, to show videos. Vimeo may set its own cookies and collect information about how the video is viewed, as described in Vimeo's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts, to display the website's typeface.
- Enorm Apps, to display an image slider.
- unpkg, a public content delivery service used to load part of the website's code.
- Our current theme's developer, which receives the page address for a theme licence check.
These services load as part of the page and are not controlled by the cookie banner. They will not be part of our new website.
8. International transfers
Some of our service providers process personal information outside the UK.
- Shopify: for UK businesses, your information is handled by Shopify International Limited in Ireland. It may be transferred to other countries, including Canada and the United States. Shopify's privacy policy describes the safeguards it uses for these transfers.
- Google: may process information outside the UK in providing Google Workspace, under its own terms.
- The services listed in section 7 may also be located outside the UK.
Where we rely on providers to transfer information internationally, we rely on the safeguards they put in place under UK data protection law. Please contact us if you would like more information.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy:
- Enquiries and correspondence: for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and then for a reasonable period in case you contact us again about it.
- Work, sales and transaction records: for as long as required for tax, accounting and legal purposes.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep a record of your email address and the fact that you unsubscribed, so we do not email you again.
- Old customer account records: we review these and delete those we no longer need.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
10. Security
We use reputable service providers and take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including limiting who can access it. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive information, such as bank details, by ordinary email.
11. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to restrict how we use your information
- object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and to any direct marketing at any time
- ask for information you gave us to be transferred to you or another organisation, where this applies
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it
To use any of these rights, email info@belskydiamonds.com. We may need to confirm your identity. We will normally respond within one month.
12. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we use your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right.

13. Children
Our website and services are not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, including when our new website replaces the current one. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last reviewed.
